Fifth in a series: Ingredients Found in Zeal For Life
The Far East has been aware for centuries of the many health benefits associated with green tea extract. These benefits have now been backed by research, as it has been found that green tea extract is rich in polyphenols such as bioflavonoid and antioxidants such as EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate). These fight free radicals present in the body. The antioxidant EGCG found in green tea is more effective in fighting free radicals than vitamins C and E. Here's a look at some of the many health benefits of green tea extract:
1. Assists Weight Loss
The ECGC contained in green tea extract limits the negative effects of a fatty diet and smoking. Consumption of green tea extract enhances the process of thermogenesis and increases the rate of metabolism of fat, without increasing the heart rate. Hence, consuming green tea extract can help you lose weight without jitteriness or feelings of anxiety. When you drink the beverage, it makes you feel full and discourages you from eating. The extract also helps your body burn more calories. All these factors make green tea an essential supplement in your weight loss program.
2. Prevents Tooth Decay
Green tea extract has the ability to destroy plaque-causing bacteria and helps prevent tooth decay.
3. Lowers Cholesterol and Blood Pressure
Green tea extract helps to lower the LDL (bad) cholesterol that's responsible for clotting of blood. The extract helps prevent strokes and heart attacks. It promotes the production of HDL (good) cholesterol that removes the plaque in the arteries and keeps them elastic. This lowers your risks of suffering from heart disease. Persons suffering from hypertension also benefit by consuming green tea extract, because it lowers blood pressure. (MORE)

Fourth in a series: Ingredients Found in Zeal For Life
It’s common knowledge in the natural health world that pharmaceuticals often (if not always) do more harm than good. It’s also clear that foods, herbs, and other natural sources can offer similar benefits without those nasty side effects. Once again, our beliefs have been affirmed by science: A recent study published in Phytotherapy Research says that not only is turmeric effective at treating depression, it may even be more effective than some of the most common anti-depressant drugs currently on the market.
While previous studies have indicated the effectiveness of turmeric (curcumin) in treating serious depression, this study was the first randomized controlled clinical trial of its kind.
Researchers with the Department of Pharmacology of Government Medical College in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India compared the effects of turmeric and Prozac (fluoxetine), both used together and individually, in 60 patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD).
According to GreenMedInfo.com, the researchers used the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale to measure their results:
While reading the researchers conclusions indicates one treatment (turmeric) is equally effective as Prozac, it doesn’t account for the negative effects of Prozac, which boost turmeric’s value considerably. Prozac is known to cause “suicidal ideation or other psychotic disorders,” frightening side effects that are clearly absent in turmeric use.“We observed that curcumin was well tolerated by all the patients. The proportion of responders as measured by the HAM-D17 scale was higher in the combination group (77.8%) than in the fluoxetine [Prozac] (64.7%) and the curcumin (62.5%) groups; however, these data were not statistically significant (P = 0.58). Interestingly, the mean change in HAM-D17 score at the end of six weeks was comparable in all three groups (P = 0.77). This study provides first clinical evidence that curcumin may be used as an effective and safe modality for treatment in patients with MDD without concurrent suicidal ideation or other psychotic disorders.”
n addition to fighting depression, the bright yellow root commonly used in Indian cooking known as turmeric has been found to have numerous health benefits. In addition to this enlightening research on its efficacy in depression treatment, we know it also has value in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, diabetes, and even cancer. If that isn’t enough, it’s also been shown effective in aiding in weight loss and cutting heart disease risk. Plus, it tastes amazing.
Anti-depressant medications are some of the biggest of Big Pharma’s many big money-makers. Equipped with knowledge like the findings of this most recent study, consumers have the potential to undermine their goal of drugging America and the world.

Third in a series of ingredients found in Zeal For Life
Moringa oleifera, also called the drumstick tree, is a tree that grows in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India. It is also cultivated throughout Central and South America and Africa due to the ease with which it grows in tropical and sub-tropical environments.
While moringa remains relatively unknown in the West, it has developed a reputation in its native lands for its unusually high nutritional value. Indeed, health researchers have started to give it nicknames such as "The Miracle Tree" and "The Elixir of Long Life" due to its miraculous healing abilities. Let's take a closer look at the health benefits of moringa and see whether these names are justified.
Moringa's health benefitsAntioxidant activity - According to analysis, the powdered leaves of the moringa tree (which is the way most people consume moringa) contains 46 types of antioxidants. One serving, in fact, contains 22 percent of our recommended daily intake (RDI) of vitamin C, one of the most important antioxidants on Earth, and a whopping 272 percent of our RDI of vitamin A. Antioxidants help to neutralize the devastating impact of free radicals, thereby guarding us from cancer and degenerative diseases such as macular degeneration and cystic fibrosis.
Rich in amino acids - The leaves of the moringa tree contain 18 amino acids, eight of which are essential amino acids, making them a "complete" protein - a rarity in the plant world. Indeed, moringa's protein content rivals that of meat, making it an excellent source of protein for vegetarians and vegans. Protein is, of course, needed to build muscle, cartilage, bones, skin and blood and is also needed to produce enzymes and hormones.
Calcium and magnesium - One serving of moringa leaves provides us with approximately 125 percent of our RDI of calcium and 61 percent of our RDI of magnesium. These two trace minerals work in synergy; while calcium is needed to build strong bones and teeth, we also need magnesium to help us absorb it. Since moringa contains generous quantities of both, it is especially good at guarding us from osteoporosis and other bone conditions.
Extensive nutrient concentrations - Moringa leaves contain 90 different types of nutrients, including four times more calcium than milk, four times more potassium than bananas, four times more vitamin A than carrots, 50 times more vitamin B3 than peanuts, 36 times more magnesium than eggs, and 25 times more iron than spinach. It also includes high amounts of additional nutrients such as dietary fiber, iodine, lutein, zinc, selenium, zeatin and beta-carotene.
Produces a healthy oil - Although moringa is mostly celebrated for its leaves, its seeds also have a worthwhile purpose: the pods contain almost 40 percent of an edible, non-drying oil called "ben oil," which is comparable to olive oil in nutritional and antioxidant value. Ben oil is odorless, sweet-tasting, clear and - most importantly - lasts indefinitely. In fact, moringa leaf powder is also immune from spoiling, making both the tree's oil and leaves excellent survival foods.
Nourishes the skin - Due to their trace mineral content, dried and powdered moringa leaves are great for nourishing the skin. Indeed, more and more cosmetic companies are starting to include moringa extracts in their products for this reason. Moringa creams and lotions can be applied topically on the desired areas, thus allowing the nutrients to soak into, and rejuvenate, the skin.
Regularly consuming moringa leaves has also been linked to lower blood pressure, improved digestion and mood, immune-boosting effects and, thanks to their high fiber levels and low fat and calorie levels, weight loss.

Where Has Stabilized Rice Bran Been all my Life?
Thrown away, is the sad answer to that, or used for things other than supplying nutiritional supplements and nourishing people. Stabilized rice bran is one of, if not the, biggest squandered food resource in the world. Rice bran is the brown part of the rice kernel, the part which is discarded to make the white rice that most of us consume. All around the world rice bran has been used for burning as fuel and/or dug back into the soil.
I Eat Rice – Don't I get my Rice Bran that Way?
Sorry, but no. Eating brown rice might give you more fiber. The bad news is that most of the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals plus the potent antioxidants found in rice bran are denatured during processing. Rice bran
products are whole foods in themselves. This is basically concentrated brown rice, without all the white carbohydrate eaten with a rice-based meal. What Does Zeal for Life Stabilized Rice Bran Mean?
The problem with rice is that the brown part (the bran) contains oil which is very prone to rancidity, occurring within a few hours. The stabilization process denatures the lipase in the rice bran. Some of these processes are proprietary and patented due to the huge potential of zeal for life stabilized rice bran as a product. There is an enzyme found in rice bran that causes the fat to spoil, and the stabilization deactivates this. This process gives stabilized rice bran a shelf life of at least 1 year guaranteed. This enables it to be made into powdered drinks and other derivative stabilized rice bran products that can be shipped around the world and used as nutritional health and dietary supplements.
Try Zeal for Life Stabilized Rice Bran – The New Super Food today at Zeal for Life Wellness Formula and you will enjoy this complete nutrient rich food source that helps you enhance and maintain your overall health, along with providing instant energy for your whole day.

First in a series of articles featuring Nutrients in Zeal For Life...
Patients with colorectal cancer may benefit from the cancer-growth-inhibiting power of grape seed extract. Researchers from the University of Colorado Cancer Center report that the more aggressive the cancer cells are, the more effective the grape extract works at targeting and stopping the growth. Grape seed extract is amazing in that it attacks the cancer cells but leaves the healthy cells untouched. This is a departure from conventional cancer treatments that destroy all of the cells in an attempt to stop the spread of cancer.
Actually, the power of grape seed extract seems quite remarkable in this research, which was published in the journal Cancer Letters. Molly Derry, a doctoral candidate in the lab of Rajesh Agarwal, PhD, and investigator at the CU Cancer Center and her team saw that while doses of chemotherapy only increase with more severe cancer cases, such as a stage IV instead of stage II, the amount of grape seed extract required actually decreased.
“It required less than half the concentration of GSE to suppress cell growth and kill 50 percent of stage IV cells than it did to achieve similar results in the stage II cells.”
“We’ve known for quite a while that the bioactive compounds in grape seed extract selectively target many types of cancer cells. This study shows that many of the same mutations that allow colorectal cancer cells to metastasize and survive traditional therapies make them especially sensitive to treatment with GSE.”
One of many berry types, grapes were introduced to America over 300 years ago. There are over 8,000 grape varieties with the main types being American and European. With only 100 calories per cup, grapes are a great source of vitamins K and C and are loaded with antioxidants. (MORE)
